Dear handball friends in Serbia and all over the world, Serbia is in the spotlight of the international handball family to host the 2013 Women’s World Championship. The Serbian Handball Federation is anything but a debutant in hosting big handball tournaments: In 2012 Serbia was the hosting nation of two European Championships for both men and women – a perfect preparation to host the world of handball in the cities of Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Zrenjanin now. Those events have sparked the flame for handball in Serbia, bringing our beloved sport back into the spotlight of general public interest. Now we will see a huge number of new faces in the first Women’s World Championship of the recent Olympic cycle. And all players and delegations will feel the warm welcome of Serbia in cold winter times, and will be boosted by the atmosphere in the arenas, as the Serbian people are not only famous for their hospitality, but especially for their “positive craziness” in supporting sport events.
