Brazil – a country well known for beaches, carnival and football. But Brazil is also a country with a vivid and successful handball tradition. The Brazilian men are World Champion in Beach Handball, but also indoor handball is very popular. Both national teams – men and women – take a leading role in Pan American handball, and especially the women’s national team has become one of the top teams in the world. Now this team has the great chance to show their spirit and performance at home – as Brazil is the host of a Senior Indoor World Championship for the first time. Greater Sao Paolo will host and organize this Women’s World Championship with the typical Brazilian way of life. Brazilians are known as frenetic sports enthusiasts – and will show their passion to all teams, coaches, officials and spectators from all over the world. This World Championship will be a milestone for handball in Brazil and Pan America – and will be one important step towards the Olympics 2012 in London.
