Dear Handball Friends in Montenegro and all over the world, The Handball Federation of Montenegro will be the host of the IV Women’s Youth World Championship this August. It will be the first ever IHF World Championship in Montenegro – and we are all confident that this tournament will be a great success. So it is a great honour to host the best women’s youth teams of the world in Bar and Podgorica. For years – and after becoming an independent nation – Montenegro has been a constantly improving nation in terms of women’s handball. Counting on a strong youth programme Montenegro is one example for how women’s handball can become a national top sport. In 2010 the women’s juniors took the bronze medal at the World Championship in Korea, later on for European and World Championships for the first time, followed by Silver at the London Olympics.
