The cooperation between two back field players

Enter Title

The teams of Montenegro and Island have many things in common: both are from small countries with long and rich Handball tradition, but also both teams are newcomers in women’s top handball. In a very balanced game, Island finally managed to succeed with a tight one goal difference, which was mostly due to the very consequent defence between goal area line and free throw line of the Icelandic team. Therefore the MNE back players Bojana Popovic (185 cm), Katarina Bulatovic (186 cm) and Marija Jovanovic (182 cm) mostly only had shot possibilities from a larger distance, but nevertheless managed to score a total of eight goals. One example of the easy but effective cooperation between Popovic and Jovanovic is illustrated on the following pictures.

Popovic gets the ball from right back in the movement against active ISL defence at a distance of about 11-12 meters from the goal.
Popovic shows a very dynamic movement to the front before she jumps off and hereby draws the attention of ISL middle defenders.
While jumping, Popovic passes the ball perfectly timed to Jovanovic.

Jovanovic takes advantage of the fact that ISL middle defenders focus on Popovic and MNE line player Djokic and receives the ball at a ten metre distance from the goal, where she is able to perform an excellent shot movement against only one passive defence block and succeeds in scoring one of the MNE goals.
