“Capable of surprises

Interview with the Hungarian ambassador for Sweden 2011 Gabor Csaszar

Do you believe that the World Championship in Sweden will be a real highlight for international handball?

Gabor Csaszar: Yes, by all means. As in every year, the championships are developing, always organized on a bigger scale. I believe it will be the same this time as well. A World Championship is always a huge event for the players and for the spectators. I’m sure that the organizing country will invest a lot of energy to organize the best World Championship.

What do you expect from host Sweden in terms of sports and organization?

Gabor Csaszar: I know the Swedish people and I’m sure that the World Championship will be just as precise as they are. The last time they organized the World Championship there were no complains about the organization and I’m sure there won’t be any this time either.

What are your expectations concerning the performance of your team in Sweden?

Gabor Csaszar: I think that our team is always capable of surprises. The sixth place at the WCh 2009 was an outstanding result for the big-hearted team of our small country. We can build on it. On the other hand, the competition is so equal, so it is very hard to predict the result. In any case, we have to survive the Preliminary Round, this is the minimum expectation, which is not an easy task. In my opinion, if we finish in the top 8, it will be a good result. Of course, I will know it better at the venue, I can see the picture better, but this is what I think right now.

Which teams do you rate main contenders for the World Championship title?

Gabor Csaszar: There are several great teams fighting for the medals, but maybe France stands out from the group. However many other teams will try to take the crown away from them, such as Croatia, Iceland, Denmark, Germany, Poland and Spain.

Which players might become the big stars in Sweden?

Gabor Csaszar: At all World or European Championships, we can see some young talents who can be called stars. In addition, well known players with large experience will do all they can for a better performance. There will be many stars and I think someone of them will have a continuous great performance.
