“Everything is possible”

Interview with the Austrian Sweden 2011 ambassador Ewald Humenberger

Do you believe that the World Championship in Sweden will be a real highlight for international handball?

Ewald Humenberger: Every World Championship is a highlight. For me and the entire Austrian handball fanbase now even more, as the Austrian men´s national team is participating.

What do you expect from host Sweden in terms of sports and organisation?

Ewald Humenberger: I have been to Sweden for a World Championship once, in 1993 with the Austrian men´s national team - the organisation was very good and I think they have enough experience to organise a top event, all the teams and fans will like a lot. .

What are your expectations concerning the performance of your team in Sweden?

Ewald Humenberger: This Austrian team has a lot of potential. I do hope, they gonna reach the main round and then everything is possible. It is the first World Championship for all the Austrian players, no one knows, how they gonna react, if they are going to be very nervous or not. But i believe, that everything is possible in sports.

Which teams do you rate main contenders for the World Championship title?

Ewald Humenberger: My favourites are France, Croatia, Poland and Denmark

Which players might become the big stars in Sweden?

Ewald Humenberger: Becoming the main star of a World Championship relies to many factors: I think every player, who qualified for playing for his country at the World Championships, is already a star. In Sweden the very best teams of the World have qualified, I hope that some Austrians are among the best players of the tournament.
