Interview with the Spanish ambassador for Sweden 2011 David Barrufet

 

Do you believe that the World Championship in Sweden will be a real highlight for international handball?

David Barrufet: Yes of course, since a World Championship is very important for our sport. You can find the best players and you can possibly watch the best handball in the world. 

 

What do you expect from host Sweden in terms of sports and organization?

David Barrufet: I expect them to do it very well, as they have already done on other occasions like previous European and World Championships. I am sure that the whole country will help and contribute to the success.

 

What are your expectations concerning the performance of your team in Sweden?

David Barrufet: My team has the objective to fight in every match and tries to win. At the end we will do an evaluation. I honestly think that Spain can reach the podium.

 

Which teams do you rate main contenders for the World Championship title?

David Barrufet: I think the favourites are France, Croatia, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Germany, and surely we could add some other teams to this list.

 

Which players might become the big stars in Sweden?

David Barrufet: I think the stars may be Karabatic, Jicha, Omeyer or Sterbik, but I think this year the star will be the conjunction and the work of a team as a whole.
