Interview with the Norwegian ambassador for Sweden 2011 Bente Aksnes

   

Do you believe that the World Championship in Sweden will be a real highlight for international handball?

Bente Aksnes: Of course I do. The world’s best teams and players, tough matches – and a sport faster, stronger and more artistic than ever… How can it not be a real highlight?  

What do you expect from host Sweden in terms of sports and organisation?

Bente Aksnes: I expect nothing but the best. I think Sweden will provide us with a championship and an event, showing great hospitality, which makes it possible for the players to perform on top, for the audience to enjoy it and for the media to present spectacular matches all over the world. I also expect a championship with close matches, fair play and enthusiasm – showing the true sport.

What are your expectations concerning the performance of your team in Sweden?

Bente Aksnes: I believe that they will do well! The team has been improving since the last championships and maybe it’s time for a semifinal!

Which teams do you rate main contenders for the World Championship title?

Bente Aksnes: France, Croatia, Norway, Denmark, Poland

Which players might become the big stars in Sweden?

Bente Aksnes: There are several players that may become the big star. Among them are Philip Jicha, Nikola Karabatic, Steinar Ege, Mariusz Jurasik and Mikkel Hansen.
