Alilovic replaced injured Vlado Sola in the Croatian goal at the 2007 World Championship, and has since then been considered the number 1 in the Croatian goal. The two-metre man, who was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and acquired Croatian citizenship, started his career in his home town of Ljubuski, before he played for Ademar Leon (Spain), Celje (Slovenia) and currently for Veszprem (Hungary). Alilovic is thus the only player in the Croatian team who has never played for a Croatian club.
