FC Barcelona (ESP) vs. Al-Sadd Sports Club (QAT) 34:25 (17:12)

 

It was not the biggest show celebrated from the defending champion. But it was a clearly victory for the FC Barcelona against the host. Al-Sadd Sports Club was a good opponent but not strong enough to bring the favourite seriously in trouble.

From the start on the former Champions League winner took the lead. Like other matches before (Al-Sadd is the host of the IHF Super Globe since 2010, reached two times the semi-final) the star ensemble from Europe acted like a champion. The individual strength of Karabatic, Lazarov,  Jallouz, Rutenka and Co. dominated the match. After 30 minutes the result was the logical consequence of the match history.

The second half was a mirror image of the first 30 minutes. Barcelona dominated, Al-Sadd fought for a friendly result. It worked for both sides for a long time but at the last minutes the physical strength of the team from Iberian peninsula dominated more and more – finally Barcelona won the match with a clear 34:25.
