All eight participants for the 2013 edition of the IHF Super Globe in Doha, Qatar (25-30 August) are confirmed. The final decision to be taken was the Pan-American qualification tournament, which took place in Taubate City, Brazil – and finally the host team celebrated their first ever ticket for the IHF Super Globe in their club's history. Taubate beat their Brazilian compatriots of Pinheiros in the final by 25:23 and prevented the 2011 and 2012 Super Globe participants from achieving their hat-trick. Pinheiros had beaten Taubate before in the preliminary round by 29:26, but then the tournament host took revenge. Before, Pinheiros and Metodista (another club from Brazil) had won their respective preliminary round groups. But Metodista failed against Taubate in their semi-final (26:32), while Pinheiros beat River Plate (Argentina) in the second semi by 25:20.

Besides host Al-Sadd (Qatar) and defending champions Atletico Madrid (Spain), now all continental club champions for the IHF Super Globe are confirmed: Al Rayyan (Qatar) is the winner of the Asian qualification, Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Tunisia) has won the African qualification, HSV Hamburg (Germany) are the European Champions League winners and Sydney University (Australia) has won the Oceania qualification tournament. The wild card for the tournament was awarded to the Qatari club of El Jaish.

The draw for the preliminary round groups of the IHF Super Globe will take place in Doha in July (the exact date will be announced soon).

According to the IHF seeding list those are the pots for the draw:
• Pot 1: Atletico Madrid (ESP), HSV Hamburg (GER)
• Pot 2: Al-Sadd (QAT), Etoile Sportive du Sahel (TUN)
• Pot 3: El Jaish (QAT), Al Rayyan (QAT)
• Pot 4: Taubate (BRA), Sydney University (AUS)

The two best-ranked teams of each preliminary round group will face in the semi-finals, followed by the placement matches and the final on 30 August in Al Gharafa Arena in Doha.
