Charlotte BONAVENTURA (FRA) and Julie BONAVENTURA (FRA) are the first ever women's referee couple to whistle a handball final at Olympic Games. The French twins, aged 32, were nominated by the International handball Federation (IHF) for the women’s final on Saturday, 11 August, between Norway v Montenegro.

BONAVENTURA/BONAVENTURA (FRA) have made their Olympic debut in London and are in the referee’s squad of IHF and European Handball Federation (EHF) since 2004. Both were officiating matches at the 2009 and 2011 women’s world championships in China and Brazil and the 2010 European women’s championship.

During the 2012 Olympic Games they whistled men’s and women’s matches, as they do in the French league, too.
