From 18 to
22 October, the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe will host the Caribbean nations’
tournament of the third IHF Trophy on the Pan American continent. The Caribbean
Zone is a perfect example of the growth of handball in the region: only three
teams took part in the last tournament – Guadeloupe, however, will welcome
incredible eight teams this year in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
Guadeloupe’s
women’s team and the men’s team from Martinique try to defend their titles
while Dominica and the teams of debutants French Guyana, Barbados, Saint Kitts
and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti will challenge them to book a spot in
the Continental Phase. It is worth mentioning that the hosts are the title
holders of the IHF Trophy InterContinental Phase as well.
As usual, the
IHF will stage courses for both referees and coaches parallel to the IHF Trophy
competition. Mr Gerhard Reisinger (AUT) will be in charge of the course for
referees, while Ms Nahla Boudina (TUN) will be leading the coaching course.
