The XV Men’s Pan-American Championship will be held from 17 to 24 June in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and will be the qualification for the 2013 Men’s World Championship in Spain. Ten teams will compete in the Argentine capital. Defending champion is Argentina. The three medallists will book their ticket to the 2013 Men’s World Championship.

The draw of the preliminary round groups took place in Buenos Aires. The ceremony was chaired by Mario Moccia, President of the Argentina handball federation and Vice-President of the Pan-American Team Handball Federation, in the presence of Mr Julio Noveri, who is the Southern Regional Vice-President of the Pan-American Team Handball Federation, and Vice-President of the Uruguayan handball federation.

The draw result is the following:
Group A: Argentina, Chile, Greenland, USA, Venezuela
Group B: Brazil, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Paraguay
