The
2018 Men’s Pan American Championship is well underway in Nuuk, Greenland and
after three days of competition, there are still four teams which are
undefeated: Argentina and Chile in Group A and Brazil and hosts Greenland, who make good use of the home field advantage.
Greenland
opened their campaign in Group B against Colombia with a 35:24 win, continuing
on with another clear victory against Paraguay (35:22). In a dramatic match against
Uruguay, which was level at 29:29 only two minutes before the final whistle,
the Greenland could secure another two points in front of the home crowd –
which means they are very close to the semi-finals.
Thanks
to a better goal difference, Brazil are on top of Group B right now with wins
against Canada (42:13), Colombia (42:22) and Paraguay (40:14). With two
victories and one loss, Uruguay follow on rank three, before Canada (one win,
two losses) and the teams of Colombia and Paraguay which are still at zero
points.
In
Group A, Chile and Argentina top the Group, with Chile beating Puerto Rico
(33:26), Guatemala (39:14) and Peru (36:13) and two dominant victories for
Argentina – who only played two matches due to Cuba’s non-appearance – against
Peru (48:8) and Puerto Rico (42:18). They are followed by Puerto Rico, who
claimed two points against Guatemala (32:21). The teams of Guatemala and Peru
have lost both their respective matches.
