The IHF Trophy - South and Central America is well underway in Asunción, Paraguay, with the youth and junior teams of Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru and hosts Paraguay competing for a ticket to the Intercontinental Phase.  

 

After two competition days, hosts Paraguay top the table in the youth tournament as they beat first Costa Rica 33:30 and then Guatemala 33:25. Peru, as well, are still undefeated with a victory against Guatemala in a thrilling match (23:21) and a seven-goal win against Costa Rica on day two.

 

The junior competition is a close one so far, with two one-goal victories and a draw in four matches. Costa Rica are followed by Paraguay at the top of the table, both with three points after their 21:21 draw against each other. In their first matches, Costa Rica defeated Peru 25:22 and the hosts beat Guatemala 26:25.
