From 1 to 6
November 2016, the iconic Bolivian city of Sucre will be the host of the South American
Zone of the IHF Trophy. It is the first time Bolivia hosts an IHF competition,
and the Villa Bolivariana will be the home of six nations during this week-long
tournament.
The men’s
competition will feature the national teams of hosts Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru,
Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia while the same teams, with the exception of
Paraguay, will face off against each other in a round robin competition.
Colombia are the reigning champions and continental winners of the men’s
competition while Venezuela will be defending the title in the women’s competition.
These two nations are favourites for the trophy this year as well, but it will
be exciting to see how their regional peers have developed over the past couple
of years.
Parallel to
the competition, the IHF will organise a course for referees and coaches. Mr
Javier Moure Fernandez (ESP) will be heading the referee course, while Mr
Wolfgang Lowak (GER) will be in charge of the coaching lectures.
