The Preliminary Round has finished, and all the semi-finalists of the men’s handball tournament on the Central American and the Caribbean Games are known. They are the same as in the women’s tournament.
Host Mexico will face the Dominican Republic in the first semi final today, while Puerto Rico will encounter Cuba in the second match of the semis. The medal matches are scheduled for tomorrow, 26 November.
Mexico and Cuba were paired in Group B and they both won their matches clearly against their opponents from Nicaragua and Guatemala, but their direct duel was a really exciting encounter. In the end, the visitors from Cuba managed to win the game 27:26, but this result only announces the exciting matches in the fight for the medals.
In Group B Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic were also very convincing in their Games against Colombia and Costa Rica, and their direct duel, which decided the group winner, ended with a very narrow victory of the Dominican Republic at a final result of 26:25.
