January saw a busy month for the IHF
Handball@School project in El Salvador, with courses held in three cities
across the country. A total of 140 professionals working in the field of
physical education, sports and recreation took part in the courses, run by IHF
lecturer Dr Pablo Juan Greco, from January 17 to 26.
“In the three cities, the participants were
very motivated, with active participation, many moments of questions and
answers – clearly a good start for the dissemination of handball,” said Dr
Greco in his report, adding that handball will be integrated into the teaching
curriculum, therefore, the presence of such motivated teachers was a particular
bonus.
“The participating teachers showed
punctuality, interest and a lot of motivation both in the theoretical
classrooms and in the practical part.”
The opening course, in Santa Tecla from
January 17 to 19, saw the greatest attendance, with 70 participants. 34 took
part in the course in Ilobasco (January 21 to 23) and 36 attended the course in
Chalatenango (January 24 to 26). All three saw a variety of professions
represented, including teachers, athletes, recent graduates and sports
administration officials. The course content included both theoretical lectures
and practical lessons, as well as an assessment at the conclusion of each.
Dr Greco also noted the excellent work and
cooperation with the El Salvador Handball Federation.
