Today,
the draw for the 2018 Women’s Youth (U18) World Championship in Poland was held
at the IHF Head Office in Basle, Switzerland – right after the 2018
Women’s Junior World Championship groups were drawn.
First,
the teams in pot 4 were drawn to groups A-D by Per Bertelsen, Chairman of the
IHF Commission of Organising and Competitions, who was assisted by Monika
Listkiewicz, Marketing Manager of the Polish Handball Federation (PHF), and
according to the results of the draw the teams in pots 5 and 6 were assigned to
the corresponding groups in rows 5 and 6.
Afterwards
the teams in pot 2 were drawn to Groups A-D in row 2, and the teams in pot 1 to
groups A-D in row 1.
As
hosts, Poland had the prerogative to assign themselves a group of their choice
in row 3. PHF External Relations Director Damian Drobik announced their
decision to play in Group A, where they will face Germany, Romania, Brazil,
Angola and Slovakia.
At
the end, the remaining teams in pot 3 were drawn to groups A-D in row 3,
leading to the following result:

A: GER, ROU, POL, BRA, ANG, SVK
Group
B: HUN, DEN, EGY, SWE, CHI, CRO
Group
C: NOR, RUS, JPN, CHN, NED, ARG
Group D: KOR, FRA, ESP, TUN, KAZ, MNE
