Two
Technical Courses for Coaches were held in Lithuania and Chile in September
2015 in the framework of the IOC Olympic Solidarity programme, which aims to
organise assistance for all NOCs, in particular for those with the greatest
needs.
From 7 to
11 September 2015, IHF lecturer Klaus Feldmann from Germany held a level 3
Olympic Solidarity Technical Course for Coaches in the capital of Lithuania,
Vilnius. A total of 33 participants joined the course. During the course Mr
Feldmann was supported by the local lecturer Miglius Astrauskas. The main
topics of the course included attack, defense and the principals of handball
training and its planning process. Overall Klaus Feldmann reported that it was
a successful course.
The
Handball Federation of Chile together with its NOC received the approval from
Olympic Solidarity to host a level 2 Technical Course for Coaches from 11 to 21
September 2015. The IHF appointed IHF lecturer Juan Lorenzo Antón Garcia from
Spain to conduct the course. The course was held for 26 coaches in the complex
of the Chile Olympic Committee in Santiago and all of the attending coaches
passed the final exam on the last day of the course.
According
to the feedback of the IHF lecturer, the level of the participants was very
good. They showed a great interest, which was underlined by several discussions
on a higher level of handball knowledge.
In the
context of handball development, IHF Lecturer Felix Rätz held three referee
courses in Singapore from 19 to 25 October 2015, including two newcomer courses
with 7 and 11 participants and one advanced course with 12 participants. Over
the course of two days, the referees attended theoretical lessons about,
amongst others, basic refereeing skills such as body language signals and
tactics. In addition, they whistled training or championship games.
Lecturer
Rätz reported that the participants of the newcomer courses were very
interested and followed the course attentively.
