One of the biggest international youth tournaments organised in Greece, the Danaon Cup, will take place in the region of Argolida from July 2 to 7. Aiming to give young handball players a complete experience under the motto ‘handball, joy, education’, the Danaon Cup combines a top-quality handball competition with a chance to get to know the local culture and history.

“Our ambition is to promote handball and enhance the international relationships between young people via handball. In the context of that, it would be a great honour for us to welcome and host teams from all over the world. We are keen to provide them an unforgettable experience,” is the official statement of the Danaon Cup organisers.

“Danaon Cup has not only pure athletic scope, but also demonstrates a strong cultural and educational character.”

The competition will open with a preliminary phase, followed by the qualification phase, the division matches and the semi-finals. There will be four categories: Under 14 boys and girls born from 2004 to 2005, Under 16 boys born from 2002 to 2003, and Under 18 boys born from 1999 to 2001.

Alongside the tournament itself, there will be various activities and celebrations, including the ‘Show me the way’ evening, where successful handball players are invited in order to share their experience with the participants.

The sixth edition of the Cup is organised by Diomidis Handball Club, champions of the Greek league in 2012 and 2014. During its 34 years of history, Diomidis HC’s crowning achievement is winning the Challenge Cup title in the 2011/12 season.

Teams interested in participating in the Danaon Cup should note the closing for registration on May 31. More information on the event can be found by clicking on the link below.
