The Entebe Sports Beach on the beautiful Lake Victoria was the setting for the second phase of the IHF Beach Handball Trophy, which took place in Uganda from 15 to 19 November 2016. Mr Francisco Aguilera, former coach of the Spanish national beach handball team and very experienced expert, conducted the training camp for the Ugandan national teams as a final step of their preparation for the IHF Beach Handball Trophy competition. 17 men and 11 women took part in the week-long camp and gained significant experience working under the leadership of an experienced coach.
With this training camp, Uganda becomes the 6th African country to hold the 2nd Phase of this project and joins the likes of Togo, South Africa, Kenya and Cabo Verde who will be their counterparts in the Final Phase of the IHF Beach Handball Trophy, taking place in 2017.
Besides Africa, this project includes the regions of Oceania and the Caribbean with the focus of the IHF being on those federations who have the natural resources and possibilities to develop this discipline of handball.
