IHF lecturer Felix Rätz, SUI, conducted the first referee course for the Malawi Handball Association. The course is part of the development of the national sport structure in Malawi and is divided into two parts: the coaching course, which will start at the end of this year, and the course for referees, which took place in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, from 27 September to 6 October. This eight-day basic course was attended by ten future referee couples, who are all former coaches or players. The course which was funded by the Olympic Solidarity and the Malawi Olympic Committee did not only offer theoretical basics (e.g. whistling and body language, hand signals, progression, 7m etc.), but also three hours of referee practice per day. The International Handball Federation received positive feedback from its lecturer in his evaluation of the course. The IHF lecturer was satisfied with the enthusiasm of the participants and their willingness to acquire his experience in handball.
