Hungary had a national holiday on Wednesday, 20 August. In the evening, millions of spectators visited a beautiful firework over the river Danube in the capital Budapest. One day later the talents of Hungary started another firework on the handball floor against Romania. Especially in the first half a balls – in total 16 – scored the Romanian goal. The Romanians seemed surprised by so much power. Romania was tired, slow and without spirit – and the match was, for that reason, already decided after the first half. With the clear 16:6 lead, the host took the second period a little bit more relaxed. This was the chance for the Romanians to reach a better result. But more for cosmetically reasons. Finally Hungary won by 30:22.
