Like many nations around the world, the upcoming international calendar break for handball leagues allows the opportunity for some friendly matches and Tunisia is no exception as from tomorrow, they will host a four nations tournament in Tunis.

Along with the host nation, Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Bahrain will participate in the three-day competition, played in a round-robin format.

The competition will serve as part of the preparation for the men’s team ahead of the CAHB African Men’s Championship to be held in Gabon in January 2018.

The national team management and players will be holding a press conference later today at the El Menzah Sports Palace to talk about the upcoming tournament and next four months ahead of their opener against Saudi Arabia tomorrow. The Tunisian squad named by coach Toni Gerona features a number of players based in Tunisia as well as players at clubs in Germany, France, Turkey and Qatar.

Gerona signed a three-year contract to take over the Tunisia job in July after moving from Qatar where he was coaching El Jaish after it was confirmed that El Jaish will be merged with Lekhwiya Sports Club to form new club, Al Duhail Sports Club.
