In collaboration with the International
Handball Federation (IHF), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Mongolian
Handball Federation (MHF) and the Mongolian National Olympic Committee (MNOC), the
International Olympic Solidarity Handball Coaching Course was kicked off on
April 9th, 2018 in Ulaanbaatar city, Mongolia.

Mongolia, Mr Chinbat, S. Director Department Physical Culture and Sport at
Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Mongolia (MECSS), Dr
Jargalsaikhan D., President MHF, Executive Committee members of MHF and Dr
Hyung-Kyun Chung (KOR), IHF representative (main instructor of the course) have
participated in the opening ceremony of the course in the NOC building meeting
hall in 09 April 2018, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In addition to officials from the
organising administrations, overall 40 delegations including 19 coaches from
some provinces of Mongolia such as Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Bulgan, Gobi-Altai,
Darkhan-Uul, Dornod, Dornogobi (Sainshand soum and Zamiin-Uud soum), Zavkhan,
Selenge (Sukhbaatar soum, Bayangol soum, and Mandal soum) and 21 coaches from 6
districts of Ulaanbaatar city took part for the opening ceremony.
On the occasion of this special event, Mr
Badar-Uugan General Secretary NOC Mongolia,
Mr Chinbat S. Director Department MECSS, Dr. Jargalsaikhan D. President
MHF and Dr. Hyung-Kyun Chung (KOR) IHF lecturer delivered their warmest
greeting speeches to all participants as congratulating, and wishing them
sports’ achievement.
IHF lecturer Dr Hyung-Kyun Chung (KOR) and
the local expert Dr Jargalsaikhan D have been working great as a team to direct
the course. During the initial stages of the course, Dr Chung has been teaching
interesting methods of coaching handball, crucial elements for defence systems,
goal keeper training, attack system, ball control and pass to the Mongolian
coaches in the meeting hall of NOC. Meanwhile, Dr Jargalsaikhan presented handball
sport’s history, rules, technical and tactical methods, instruments, and
standards. Dr Chung instructed some lessons about handball at schools, beach
handball, athletes’ licences, and coaching duties in terms of theoretical
subjects. For the next few days participants will have practical lessons in the
Futsal Sports Hall of Mongolia.
IHF sent balls and IHF rule books to MHF
whereas MHF prepared all materials to hand the participants for the course
activities. It is the second IOC Olympic Solidarity Handball Course for
Coaching programme organised in Mongolia after the first course was held in
2003.
