After their
last update, the I.R. Iran Handball Federation (IRIHF) has given an end of 2018 (November and December) assessment of a very busy year of handball in the Asian nation.
The men’s and women’s Handball Super Leagues continued their strong presence in the country with eight teams participating weekly in each, featuring over 300 players.
A number of youth handball competitions took place in November too with an Under 15 boys beach handball competition in Isfahan featuring 90 players and a girl’s youth indoor tournament taking place in Qom, with 80 young players taking part.
Three higher talent/Olympic sessions were also held in November with beach (Bousher Province), girls (Shiraz) and boys (Isfahan) being conducted, complete with 170 (13 teams), 460 (26) and 510 (30) participants respectively.
December started with 120 young girls playing in a competition in northern Iran between six teams.
In addition to the club competitions, eight national team camps where held in the period with three senior beach team camps, youth women, junior women, junior beach (Bousher) holding meet-ups, along with two senior women camps, both held in the capital city, Tehran.
Iranian referees and delegates were also present at the 2018 AHF Asian Women’s Championship in Japan, where Iran finished sixth.
Nine referee courses took place across the country featuring a wide mix of male and female sessions and indoor and beach handball. Coaching courses at all level were also held for men and women across the country.
