Continuing
their busy
2018 the I.R. Iran Handball Federation (IRIHF) has been very busy over the
summer throughout the country with a variety of activities, continuing to push
handball in the Asian nation.
On
the international stage, the men’s national team finished fifth in the 2018
Asian Games in Indonesia with Iranian referees Saeid Valadkhani and Mehdi
Tawakoli whistling and Mitra Noori, Vice President of IRIHG as one of the
tournament’s technical delegates alongside the President of the IRIHF Alireza
Rahimi in their role as a member of the executive committee of NPC.
At
national level, 235 teams featuring 3,306 players participated in tournaments
played at a variety of age ranges in men’s and women’s competitions from U12s
up to senior levels.
Different
provinces running the tournaments included Kūhgīlūya wa Boir Aḥmad, Sistan va
Baloochestan, Mazandaran, Yazd, Kurdestan, Khorasan Shomali, Ilam, Khorasan
Jonoobi, Bousher, Khorasan Razavi, Khouzestan, Fars, Isfahan, Semnan and
Kermanshah.
Some
of the stand-out tournaments including the men’s junior beach handball national
championship, women’s super league and a variety of regional and provincial
championships.
The
U15 (north and south regions), youth and senior men and senior women’s national
teams also held training camps, with the adult men travelling to Malaysia.
A
number of educational and refereeing courses for men and women including five
refereeing seminars and courses, technical delegate courses and coaching
programmes were held.
In
the virtual world, the draw for the men’s super league took place as well as a
coordination meeting about talent identification and development with the
Ministry of Sport and Youth. Alireza Rahimi also had an ‘e-meeting’ with IHF
President, Dr Hassan Moustafa.
