The third match day of the Asian women’s qualification tournament in Changzhou brought a first decision: Hosting nation China cannot directly qualify for the Olympic Games anymore. One day after losing 21:26 to Japan, China was clearly defeated by Korea 19:31 (10:16) and still has only two points. Korea and Japan (after winning their third match 30:23 against People’s Republic of Korea) are still in the lead with six points each. The new third-ranked team with three points is Kazakhstan after the 27:9 (15:5) victory over the team from Turkmenistan which is still without a point. Kazakhstan will face Korea on the fourth match day, whereas Japan will play against Turkmenistan. The very last round will bring the decision about the direct London ticket and the participant of the Olympic Qualification Tournament in May 2012, when Japan and Korea meet in the top duel of this competition in Changzhou.
