The IHF Trophy tournaments of the Continental Phase are now in a decisive phase with Asia playing the final on 28 April and Pan America on the 29th.

In Asia, hosts Thailand play for third place in both gender categories. DPR Korea dominated the women’s competition, winning their matches against Thailand (43:36), India (37:26) and Uzbekistan (36:28) to finish on the top of the table and secure a place in the final, in which they face Uzbekistan. Today, 27 April, Thailand play India in the match for third place after losses against Uzbekistan and DPR Korea.

In the men’s competition, the team from Uzbekistan face India in the final, while the hosts play against DPR Korea today in the match for third place.

In Pan America, both teams from Martinique emerged victorious on the second match day, securing their places on the top of the table. While the women’s team showed a solid performance over the entire match, claiming a 26:21 win over Mexico, the men’s match was decided in the second half – a level score at half time (10:10) against Guatemala was turned into an impressive 35:24 victory.

The second match in the women’s competition was played between Costa Rica and hosts Colombia, finishing with 28:25 win for the hosts. In their first match of the tournament, the men’s team from the USA could claim their first victory in the tournament against Colombia (25:23) after the match on 25 April was moved to the 28th due to technical problems in the venue after a severe thunder and hail storm.

Thus, the final in the women’s competition will be played between Martinique and hosts Colombia, while Mexico face Guatemala in the match for third place. The men’s teams for the final and third-place matches are not yet determined.
