In tandem with the IHF Trophy Asia - Zone IA competition, the 6th East Asian U22 Men’s and Women’s Handball Championship was held at the Kowloon Park Sports Centre in Hong Kong.
In the round-robin tournament, Korea won both the men’s and women’s titles, beating Japan in both their final match, title deciders – the men 33:20 (17:9) and the women 31:28 (17:13).
