After
the Pan American Championship has come to an end on 20 June 2016, all nations
participating in the World Championship have been determined, except for one
Wild Card decided by the IHF Council today. This Wild Card was awarded to
Norway.
In
January 2017, all eyes will be on France when they stage the 25th edition of
the Men’s World Championship. The draw for the event, which will also be
broadcasted via live stream, takes place on 23 June, at 14:00 in the city hall
of Paris and will be conducted by Per Bertelsen, Caretaker Chairman of the IHF
Commission of Organizing and Competitions.
The
24 teams will be drawn into four groups of six (Groups A-D), starting with pot
6 (see below) and working it up to pot 2. The hosts (pot 1) have the right to
choose the group. After that, the remaining teams in pot 1 are drawn to groups
A-D.
