Just like
in the previous cycle in this zone it was the men’s and the women’s team from
Thailand that qualified for the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy. And they
did this in some fashion!
The boys
won all of their five matches in the tournament which was played on a round
robin basis. They were concentrated during the entire tournament, and in the
match that decided the winner they defeated Singapore 27:22. It was however the
match which decided the 2nd placed team that was the most
attractive, as the host Malaysia lost to Singapore by a single goal – 18:19.
In the
women’s tournament the Thai girls showed their strength and just like their
peers in the men’s Competition won all games of the tournament. After securing
three victories in the preliminary round, they demonstrate class and in the
Final they defeated host Malaysia clearly 25:16. In the match for bronze medal
Singapore was better than Indonesia winning 10:6 in a low scoring game.
This means
that the both teams from Thailand will qualify for the Continental Phase of the
IHF Trophy which will take place from 27.04. to 03.05.2015 on a venue yet to be
announced.
As part of
its commitment of developing handball worldwide, the International Handball
Federation organized courses for referees and coaches during the Event. Mr.
Terje Anthonsen (NOR) was in charge of the referees course, while the course
for coaches was headed by Dr. Taiysir Mansi (JOR).
