Place 3/4 in Ohrid

Montenegro – Denmark 19:20 (13:8)

Due to a more effective performance during the second half, the Danish girls rewarded themselves with the bronze medal, just as the Junior team did several weeks before at the World Championship in Croatia. The Scandinavians beat the team from Montenegro with 20:19, because they improved their performance in the second half after they had played an unsatisfactory first half. So after the match Denmark shed tears of joy while Montenegro showed great frustration after the unexpected lost semi-final against Romania. Montenegro took the better start during the initial stages of the first half and was already in lead with 5:2 before Denmark took the challenge. Nevertheless the Danes could not stop their competitor to build up a five-goal lead at break (13:8).

But coming back on court Denmark turned the tide with an unexpected comeback. Thanks to a clear improvement in defense as well as in attack they played much better than the Montenegrin, who missed a lot of chances. So just four minutes to the end Denmark was scoring for their first lead (19:18). And they defended it until the lucky end and snatched away the bronze medal in this Women´s Youth (U18) World Championship. The unlucky Montenegins left the court empty-handed.
