Extra-time periods were required to decide two matches on Matchday 13 of the Men's Junior World Championship in Macedonia. The host team finished 10th after losing 23:30 to Russia. The Russian beat their rivals with fast-breaks, 13 in total. Russian goalkeeper Bogdanov saved 23 balls.


Tomorrow will be the big final, Sweden vs Germany, and the match for the bronze medal, Croatia vs Denmark.


Spain took fifth place after outclassing Egypt 32-26. Marti Gurbindo scored two goals to gain new advantage for Spain after the first half. The same story in the second half, and Spain scored six goals in a row to secure victory.


France took seventh place in its first participation in the WCh in eight years and once again Vincent Gerard was in the focus. The French goalkeeper managed 13 saves but was at his best in the crucial moments. France won 28:25.


The young handball players of Korea beat Kuwait 39:37 (31:31, 15:15) in the last moment of extra-time to take 11th place. Almost 60 minutes of the match, Korea had been ahead but a few mistakes in the last minutes of the game gave Kuwait a chance to equalise.


Argentina also needed extra-time to overcome Slovakia 34:32 (28:28, 14:14). A lot of mistakes were produced and a weak defence from both team could be observed. Argentina finished 13th in the World Championship. Slovakia came off 14th.
