Germany – Croatia 29:28 (17:15)

The first question with regard to the match for the seventh rank was: Who is really awake? The started at 9.30 a.m. (local time) – which is normally the time for breakfast. Croatia, hungry for goals, was already leading 6:2 after seven minutes. Then also the Germans woke up, increased to draw (10:10) in minute18 and turned the match to a 17:15 lead after the first half. During the first ten minutes of the second half, Germany dominated the match, leading 23:19 (41.). And again the match turned: Croatia fought back, got to a draw and to a 24:23 lead. In a dramatic final phase the Germans mobilized the last resources and won in the end 29:28.

Egypt – Switzerland 25:24 (13:12)

It was their seventh match in 10 days and it was hard work for both teams. But still both, the Egyptians and the Swiss wanted to win this game, which kept the match on eye level. Only the speed was not as high as in their first matches. Egypt took the lead on half time with a result of 13:12. But the Swiss youngsters stayed always close to their Egyptian competitors. So the match for the 5th rank stayed exiting. Switzerland fought for the draw, but were unable to reach it. Consequently the Egyptian youngsters won, are now ranked fifth is herewith the best non-European team of the IV Youth World Championship.
