Today, the second Men's Youth World Championship gets underway in Bahrain at the Gulf Finance House (GFH) sports complex in Umm Al Hassam. Between 26 July and 3 August, sixteen teams from five continents are participating in this prestigious competition, which is the first major international handball tournament to be hosted by the Kingdom.

An opening ceremony will be held at 5.30pm, to be attended by General Organisation for Youth and Sports (Goys) president Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Handball Federation (BHF) president Abdulrahman Bu Ali, IHF representative Miguel Roca, and other invited guests. The ceremony will also serve as the inauguration of the GFH sports complex.

As it has been done at previous World Championships, the IHF Web Site will keep you well informed on a regular basis by providing the latest news, match results and statistics from Bahrain. You can even follow the matches' live results through the IHF's own live-ticker.
