YOG boy’s final: Korea – Egypt  25:35 (13:13)

It was one of the most emotional moments of the whole YOG handball tournament – for both sides: The Egyptian team celebrated this real big surprise and the first ever team sport gold medal for Egypt in the whole IOC history. The Korean boys were disappointed with the loss even though the spectators in Singapore supported their Asian neighbours as good as they could. But after an equal first half the Northern Africans showed astonishing and impressive second 30 minutes – won by 22:12. Match winner for the first ever YOG boy’s Gold Medallist was again Alley Mohsen, who scored outstanding 15 goals after he had scored the decisive goal in the semi final against France which had paved the way to fulfil the Golden dream. On the other hand the eleven goals of Hyeung Lee weren’t enough to bring the title to the Korean boys. Another key factor for the Egyptian victory was goalkeeper Aly Mohamed who saved 18 Korean shots. After the break Egypt extended the lead minute by minute and pre-decided the final at the score of 28:19 in minute 46 – but still knowing what had happened to the Russian girls in the final before. So they kept being concentrated, as Korea resigned. Three minutes the end – when the gap was eleven goals for the first time – the Egyptians latest had recognized that they’ve just written handball history.
