Singapore – Cook Islands 32:18 (17:8)
Second international victory for the boys from Singapore: By beating Cook Islands also in the second leg, the YOG host secured the fifth place, as Angola did in the girl’s tournament. After the 27:20 in the first leg on Monday, Singapore took an even clearer victory on Tuesday. Again Perumal Pillay paved the way to this victory with some early goals that brought a clear 8:2 for the YOG host in the starting phase. The distance increased to nine goals at the break, before the Oceanian team reduced the gap for a short period to seven goals. Until minute 44 and the 17:24 the Cook Islands were able to keep the distance the same, before Singapore started their final chase for this victory – and then dominated the opponent totally. Supported by their loudly spectators Singapore showed a real gala in the final stage and increased the gap finally to 14 goals – the clearest ever victory in the history of this young handball federation. Top scorer for the finally fifth ranked team was Jing Li Koh with eight goals, aside goalkeeper Hashim Siraj played again outstanding with 24 saves – like his Cook Island’s counterpart Munokoa Elikana with 18 saves.
