From 28
May to 1 June Accra in Ghana will host eight nations as part of the IHF Trophy
Tournament for Zone III Africa. Eight teams in the men’s competition and seven
in the women’s will compete over five days to determine who will represent this
zone on the Continental Phase for Africa next year. Divided into two groups of
four in the men’s competition and one group of four and one of three in the
women’s competition, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Benin, Burundi, Nigeria, Niger,
Liberia and Togo will battle to win this prestigious tournament and secure a
place on the Continental Phase.
The
tournament will be played with a round robin preliminary round, semi-finals and
finals. The matches for the medals are scheduled for 5 June.
As in
previous cases, parallel to the tournament the IHF will organize simultaneous
courses for coaches and referees. The coaches course will be conducted by Mr
Mohamed Benkreira (CAN), while Mr Alain Dessertenne (FRA) will carry out the referees
course on behalf of the IHF. The CAHB will be represented by its Secretary
General and IHF Council Member Mrs Nicole Assele (GAB).
