The Challenge Trophy, supported by the International Handball Federation, gives emerging or developing handball nations the chance to compete in an international competition.

Between 19-21 March 2010 Armenia, Cyprus, Israel and Malta, and between 2-4 April 2010 Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland and Moldova started into the sixth edition of the IHF/EHF Women’s Challenge Trophy.

This edition of the competition is a cooperation event between the International Handball Federation and the European Handball Federation. 

In two tournaments were played in Ramat Gan/Tel Aviv, Israel and in Viimsi, Estonia. Group 1 (EST) saw the national team of Finland win after two victories and one draw. In Group 2 (ISR) the hosts took advantage of their home soil and won the event with three straight victories.

On Saturday, 11 December 2010, the winners of the two tournaments – Finland and Israel – will meet in Aalborg for the final, within the framework of EHF Euro 2010. The game will take place ahead of the last two Preliminary Round matches of Group A. After the final whistle a full medal ceremony will follow. 

The Finland vs. Israel final will be played under EHF EURO conditions with TV cameras following every move of the two teams. The match will also be available as a live web stream on the official EHF EURO 2010 website, as well as in the on-demand section.
