It was an exciting day in Jaipur on the I IHF Inter Continental Challenge Trophy today. Benin had the first chance to present themselves, to the other participants, and they did it in a style. They managed to beat Australia by 36:22 (19:10). From the beginning it was clear that the African team is determined to show what they are capable of. It took them a couple of minutes to get used to the atmosphere, but already by half time they have secured their first win in their first match in the Pink City. The man of the match, and best scorer for Benin was A. Houssue marking 10 times for the African representative. Tommy Fletcher led the Australian lines scoring 6 times for the Oceanic representative.

 

On the second match of the night Venezuela pushed to surprise the European winner, but in the end it was Finland that took the glory back home. After pushing really hard in the first ten minutes, the Venezuelan side succumbed to the tactical superiority of the boys of Northern Europe. By creatively opening space for the back and the wing players in the attack, the Finnish team put real pressure on both Venezuelan goalkeepers. By half time Finland was 16:8 up, and the match seemed already over but, in the second half, a more motivated Venezuelan side came on court tried to fight its game back in the match. Finland was put under real pressure, but managed to bring the game to an end in cruise control. The end result: Finland vs. Venezuela 32:21 (16:8). The besr scorer of the match was Joacim Broman scoring 9 times for Finland, and taking the man of the match award.
