It is time
for Carnival on the coast of the Oman. Brazil grabbed both titles in the V
Beach Handball World Championships. Four
years ago was the last time that
one country grabbed both titles in the Championship, which came to an end on 13
July 2012 in Al Mussanah Sports City, Oman. Brazil defended his title in the
men's final and beat underdog Ukraine with 2:1.
The final match day
ended with a thrilling men’s final match in front of a full stadium. The boys
from the Ukraine won the first half after the golden goal with 19:18. But in the
second halftime the favorites found to their shape and won with 18:15. So the thrilling
shootouts had to decide this tournament. The Brazilian goalkeeper advanced to
the hero of his team: Jaime Torres saved three shoots from the Ukrainian. This
was the decision.
In the women’s final,
which had taken place just previously to the men’s final, the Brazilian team took
an easy victory against Denmark. The Scandinavians played without any chances
and a difficult tactic plan, which did not work. So the most valuable player of
the tournament, Patricia Scheppa from Brazil, scored goal by goal. Brazil won
2:0: The greatest triumph on beach for the Pan-Americans since the World
Championships 2006 in Rio de Janeiro.
All teams were
celebrating throughout the whole closing ceremony and were presented with their
trophies by H.E. Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed Al Saadi, the Minister of Sports
Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman and IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa, who
thanked the local organizers for their great efforts that made this fantastic
