Accompanied by a beautiful ceremony, the III Men's and Women's Beach Handball World Championship was officially opened on 8 July, one day prior to the start of the matches of the competition. In the presence of various local and international honoraries, IHF Treasurer Miguel Roca Mas declared the event as open. The ceremony was followed by a friendly shoot-out competition with the participation of all teams present in the tournament.

 

The preliminary round with the first official matches of the tournament will start on 9 July.
