Just like two years ago, one country grabbed both titles in the Beach Handball World Championship, which came to an end on 13 July 2008 in Cadiz, Spain. However, it was not the host country this time, but Croatia, which dethroned Brazil in the men's final, and beat host Spain in the women's final.

The final matchday ended with a thrilling women's final in front of a full stadium. However, a cheering crowd was not enough for the hosting country to win, so they finally had to succumb to the superior Croatian women's team with 0:2(10:13,8:14). In the men's final which took place just before, the Croatian team did not gain an easy victory, but had to go through a thrilling shoot-out and finally succeeded with 2:1(21:14, 18:19, 9:6).

Both teams were celebrating throughout the whole closing ceremony and were presented with their trophies by IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa himself who thanked the local organisers for their great efforts that made this fantastic event possible.

Earlier on the final day, Serbia beat Egypt in the men's consolation final with 0:2(12:14, 14:19) and former World Champion Brazil defeated Italy in the women's match for third place with 2:1(13:10,10:20,5:0).
