More than 4000 users of the IHF website www.ihf.info took part in the latest voting – and their decision was absolutely clear: French Thierry Omeyer in their opinion is the world’s best goalkeeper ever. The World Handball Player of the Year 2008 received more than 93 per cent of all votes in this non-representative online competition. The goalkeeper of the German club THW Kiel is current World, Olympic and European Champion with France and current Champions League winner with Kiel (a title he has won three times in his career). The three competitors Andrej Lawrow (Russia, 2.98 per cent), Andreas Thiel (Germany) and Mats Olsson (Sweden, both 1.74 per cent) ranked far below the Frenchman.
The next ihf.info voting has just started – the question is: Who’s the best female goalkeeper? Vote for your favourite on www.ihf.info.
