The Council of the International Handball Federation has awarded to rights to host the Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships in 2016 to the Hungarian Handball Federation while the Handball Union of Russia has landed the rights to host the Event in 2018.


Budapest and the beautiful Margarethen Island will host the best 12 teams from across the globe in a unique setting, while the Olympic city of Sochi will be the venue for the Event in 2018.


These two events will further continue to the growth and development of beach handball which has taken huge steps in the past decade, including being added as a sport in the programme of the Youth Olympic Games starting from 2018.
