XXXIV Ordinary IHF Congress voted clearly for Dr Hassan Moustafa – New members approved – Handball family increased to 199 member federations
Dr Hassan
Moustafa was re-elected President of the International Handball Federation. Moustafa
was re-elected with more than 90 percent of all votes.
The re
election of the IHF President was one of the main topics on the agenda of the
first Congress day, held in Doha, Qatar on 26 October. In summary, the Congress
voted for continuity. Also IHF 1st Vice President Miguel Roca Mas
from Spain and Treasurer Sandi Sola from Croatia will continue in their
functions for the next four years period. The only new member in the Executive
Committee is Czech representative Frantisek Taborsky.
Rafael
Sepulveda from Puerto Rico won the elections against the Russian Olympic Men’s
Handball Champion Alexander Tutschkin (Sydney 2000), and was elected for the
position as Chairman of the Commission of Development (CD).
A further
main result of the first Congress day in the capital of Qatar was the admission
of 18 new members into the handball family, which is counting now 199 member. In
the name of all of them, South Sudanese Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Nadia
Arop Dudi thanked the Congress for their confidence.

President Dr Hassan Moustafa the Congress was opened by H.E. Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al
Ali, Qatari Minister of Youth and Sports, H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin
Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee and H.E. Sheikh
Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah (KUW), ANOC and AHF President.
On Sunday, 27 October the second congress day will deal with
the awarding of the upcoming Youth and Junior World Championships and will
decide about the host of the 2015 Ordinary IHF Congress.
