Blocking and crossing in man advantage from the Preliminary Round match JPN – HUN the 21 July 2010

With man advantage, many teams are trying to push the opponents’ defense to one side, and then through a shift in the play, get one free player in a scoring position on the other side. Japan did this against Spain – although a successful finish did not occur.
Left back player receives the ball from center back player, as the pivot already blocks on the half defender.  Left back player uses the block and passes the defense in direction center of the field
Center back player shifts the play towards left and crosses the running path of left back player

Through the cross, four defense players are tied to the left attack side. On the other side (without ball), there are two attack players against one defense player

The outside defender on the side without the ball anticipates a pass from the center back player to the right back player, and tries to close the passing route Center back court recognizes the intention of the defender and passes to the now totally free right wing player instead.
The right wing player can jump in undisturbed... ... but fails to score
